PTYCON.DOC -- Changes from V3A(5) to V4(5)

1.0  SUMMARY

PTYCON is a  pseudo-teletype  (PTY)  controller.   It  allows  a  user
multiple  job  control  from  a  single terminal.  PTYCON provides the
means to converse with a number of subjobs and to control  the  manner
and times when output is received from the subjobs.

PTYCON version 4(5) runs on all releases of TOPS-20.

PTYCON does not depend on any other software during its execution.

PTYCON is documented in the DECSYSTEM-20  User's  Guide,  and  in  the
DECSYSTEM-20 Operator's Guide.



2.0  EXTERNAL CHANGES

There are no external changes in PTYCON for Release 4.



3.0  KNOWN BUGS AND DEFICIENCIES

As  of  29-Jan-79,  PTYCON  possesses   no   known   restrictions   or
deficiencies.



4.0  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS


4.1  Files Needed to Run PTYCON

PTYCON consists of the one file PTYCON.EXE, which resides in SYS:.


4.2  Instructions for Loading and Installing PTYCON

Mount the tape labeled  Distribution  Tape  on  MTA0:   and  type  the
following commands:

     R DUMPER
     TAPE MAT0:
     REWIND
     DENSITY 1600-BPI
     SKIP 2
     RESTORE <*>PTYCON.EXE (TO) SYS:*.*.-1
     REWIND

4.3  Files Needed to Build PTYCON

PTYCON is built from the following files:

     PTYCON.MAC

In addition, the following files must be in SYS:

     MACREL.REL
     MACSYM.UNV
     MONSYM.UNV


4.4  Instructions for Building PTYCON

Mount the tape labeled  Distribution  Tape  on  MTA0:   and  type  the
following commands:

     R DUMPER
     TAPE MTA0:
     REWIND
     DENSITY 1600-BPI
     SKIP 3
     RESTORE <*>*.*.* (TO) <self>*.*.*
     REWIND
     ^C
     SUBMIT PTYCON.CTL/TIME/UNIQ:0/RESET


4.5  Special Considerations

None.



5.0  INTERNAL CHANGES

There are no changes to PTYCON for Release 4.
