SED.DOC -- Version 1
June 1981

1.0 SUMMARY

This is the first release of SED. It can be used with any release of
the monitor.

2.0 EXTERNAL CHANGES

None.

3.0 KNOWN BUGS AND DEFICIENCIES

None.

4.0 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: The SED.EXE that is distributed works only with VT52 and
VT100 terminals. SED can run on almost any display terminal, but it
must be loaded with the proper terminal-dependent module. If you have
only VT52's and VT100's, just copy the object and documentation files
to the right places using SED.CMD. If you have other terminals, check
the terminal-dependent files (SED???.MAC) to see if your terminal is
among them (SED.DIR tells which files go with which terminals).
Compile and load SED by:

        LOAD SEDSYM,SEDXXX,SED
        SAVE SED

where SEDXXX.MAC is the right terminal-dependent file. If your
terminals are not currently supported see the installation manual,
SED.MEM, and/or the installation cookbook, SEDCB.MEM, for instructions
about how to build the module for your terminal. Load SED as above.
Put SED.EXE on SYS:. Put SED.HLP and SEDONL.HLP on HLP:. Put SED.MAN
and SED.DOC and any of the relevant .KYS files wherever you want users
to find them.

5.0 INTERNAL CHANGES

None.

6.0 SUGGESTIONS

The tutorial (SED.MAN) and reference manual (SED.RND) can be made to
reflect any keyboard layout. The distributed versions are for the
VT52 terminal. Instructions for adapting SED.RNM and SED.RND are in
the file SEDRNO.MEM.
