PRODUCT SUMMARY 31 May 88
1.0 PRODUCT SUMMARY
TCP/IP-20 includes those TOPS-20 modules which are required
for the TCP/IP protocols to be used in conjunction with the AN20,
the NIA20 (using Ethernet), or the CI20 (to another TOPS-20
system).
As a courtesy to customers, the package also provides many
of the public domain utilities which are commonly used in TCP/IP
environments such as FTP and TELNET. There may be more current
versions of these utilities available from other sources.
2.0 PACKAGING STRATEGY
TCP/IP-20 is provided under the QT090 license. The
TCP/IP-20 Distribution tape contains those files which are unique
to TCP/IP-20. It does not contain all of the TOPS-20 utilities
and documentation files. It should be merged with the contents
of QT023 Distribution tape in order to make a complete TOPS-20
with TCP/IP-20 package.
The TCP/IP-20 package contains the complete TOPS-20 monitor
.REL library (with TCP/IP-20 modules) and pre-built monitors.
There is no longer a TCP/IP-20 Monitor Sources tape.
Instead, .KEY files are included on the TCP/IP-20 Distribution
tape. These .KEY files can be used to decrypt the TCP/IP-20
specific monitor .MAC files found on the Monitor Sources tape.
This tape is provided to customers who are licensed for TOPS-20
sources. The .KEY files are discussed further in section 4.0.
3.0 TOPS-20 MONITOR CONFIGURATIONS WITH TCP/IP
1. TCP/IP Maximum Configuration
TOPS-20 V7.0 monitors built to support both TCP/IP (ARPAnet)
and DECnet networks will not support the maximum number of
jobs, TTYs, and memory. At a minimum, such monitors will
support those configurations possible under TOPS-20 V6.1.
(Approximately 80 jobs, 2MW of memory, 10 pages less than
normal JSB free space).
2. Larger configurations can be supported by building the TCP/IP
monitor without DECnet.

AUTOPATCH AND KEY FILES 31 May 88
4.0 AUTOPATCH AND KEY FILES
TCP/IP-20 will receive maintenance via the normal Autopatch
updating mechanism. In order to maintain limited access to the
TCP/IP-20 .REL files, the TOPS-20 REL library with TCP/IP in it
comes with an encryption key (the .KEY file). This library will
be distributed on the normal Autopatch tape, encrypted with this
key file. The PEP utility which processes the Autopatch tape,
will use this key to decrypt the file (thus you must have it
available when you install Autopatch tapes).
The TCP/IP Distribution tape has a .KEY file for EACH source
file. The TOPS-20 Source Update tape which is delivered in
conjunction with each Autopatch update will contain all changed
monitor sources. The TCP/IP source modules will be encrypted
with their respective keys. You will have to run the decryption
program to make these sources usable. This program, entitled
DCRYPT.EXE, is found in the third saveset of the TCP/IP
Distribution tape.
5.0 PROBLEM REPORTING
Problems with the TCP/IP facilities in the monitor should be
reported using normal SPR mechanisms. There is no Digital
support for the utilities.
