The new NRT20 and NRTSRV have some important new features.

First, the protocol used to implement remote terminals has
been changed. The new protocol is compatible with
the DRG-approved terminal protocol that has been
implemented on VMS and RSTS. In line with this change,
both NRT20 and NRTSRV use a different object number than
before. The new object number is 23.

Second, the new system supports a limited form of route-through.
The route-through capability is supported only for TOPS-20
systems. In order to connect to a system that is not
adjacent to your own, you may provide a host name of
the form:

		HOST1-HOST2-HOST3

where the path so designated will be used to connect to
the last system in the list. Since DECNET does not support
route-through, the various NRTSRV servers cooperate
to make a transparent path between your system and
the last one in the host name list. The number of hops
is arbitrary, but the total number of characters
in the path name, exclusive of the first name, must not
exceed 16 characters.

As yet we do not have a NRT20 that may be used to
initiate a connection to a VMS system.
