THE FOLLOWING FILES ARE SUPPLIED ON THE DEC-TAPE FOR
THE INDEX OF AVAILABLE SOFTWARE:
AVAIL .F4 MAIN PROGRAM AND SUBROUTINES WHICH SEARCH
THE INDEX AND PRINT THE RESULTS.
CSPMAN.F4 SUBROUTINES TO COMPARE, MOVE, AND FILL
CHARACTER STRINGS.
AVCLNR.F4 PROGRAM TO REMOVE DUPLICATE ENTRIES
AND NON-INDEXED WORDS FROM THE INDEX
FILE, AND TO PREPARE A FREQUENCY LIST OF
INDEX TERMS.
PROGMS.STP NON-INDEXED TERMS.
PROGMS.ALL LIST OF AVAILABLE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING
MOST OF THE DECUS LIBRARY AND THE IBM
SCIENTIFIC SUBROUTINE PACKAGE.
PROGMS.IDX INDEX OF AVAILABLE SOFTWARE.
AVAIL .DOC PROGRAM MAINTENANCE DOCUMENTATION.
AVAIL .HLP HELP FILE.
AVAIL .FIL DESCRIPTION OF FILE LAYOUTS.
AVSORT.CCL COMMAND FILE FOR SORTING INDEX FILE.
AVINST.DOC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (THIS FILE).
ALL OF THE ABOVE FILES EXCEPT CSPMAN.REL ARE ASCII FILES,
AND CAN BE PRINTED OR TYPED.
TO INSTALL THE PACKAGE, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
FIRST, RECOVER ALL FILES FROM THE SUPPLIED DEC-TAPE
WITH A "FILE R,AVAIL,*.*" COMMAND TO THE MONITOR.
NEXT, EDIT THE FILES AS FOLLOWS, USING TECO:
AVAIL.HLP - AT LINE 32, SHOW THE NAME OF YOUR PROGRAM
LIBRARY CONTACT PERSON.
AVAIL.F4 - MAIN PROGRAM - AT LINE 56, SHOW THE NAME OF YOUR
PROGRAM LIBRARY CONTACT PERSON.
- AVINST SUBROUTINE - AT LINE 55, SHOW THE NAME
OF YOUR PROGRAM LIBRARY CONTACT PERSON.
- AVINDX SUBROUTINE - AT LINE 20, SHOW THE PROJECT,
PROGRAMMER NUMBER UNDER WHICH FILE PROGMS.IDX
WILL BE STORED.
- AVRSLT SUBROUTINE - AT LINE 30, SHOW THE PROJECT,
PROGRAMMER NUMBER UNDER WHICH FILE PROGMS.ALL
WILL BE STORED.
- AVSTOP SUBROUTINE - AT LINE 17, SHOW THE PROJECT,
PROGRAMMER NUMBER UNDER WHICH FILE PROGMS.STP
WILL BE STORED.
AVCLNR.F4 - AT LINES 32 AND 35, SHOW THE PROJECT,
PROGRAMMER NUMBER UNDER WHICH THE UPDATED COPIES
OF THE INDEX FILE WILL BE STORED.
PROGMS.ALL - CHANGE THE FILE STRUCTURE AND PROJECT, PROGRAMMER
NUMBERS ON WHICH THE DECUS LIBRARY AND THE SCIENTIFIC
SUBROUTINE PACKAGE FILES RESIDE. IN THE VERSION OF
FILE PROGMS.ALL WHICH IS SUPPLIED ON THE DEC-TAPE,
THE STRUCTURE IS "DSKD:" AND THE PROJECT, PROGRAMMER
NUMBERS ARE [5,3] FOR DECUS LIBRARY TAPE 1, [5,4]
FOR DECUS LIBRARY TAPE 2, AND [5,5] FOR THE
SCIENTIFIC SUBROUTINES.
NEXT, GIVE THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS TO THE MONITOR:

COPY FILES AVAIL.SAV, PROGMS.ALL, PROGMS.IDX,
PROGMS.STP, AND AVAIL.HLP INTO THE AREA WHERE THEY WILL BE
STORED, WITH APPROPRIATE PROTECTION CODES.
FINALLY, TRY A SAMPLE RUN OF THE PROGRAM. THE
OUTPUT FROM ONE SUCH RUN IS SHOWN ON THE NEXT PAGE.
TO ADD AN ITEM TO THE LIST OF AVAILABLE SOFTWARE AND
THE INDEX, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
1. PREPARE A ONE-LINE TITLE FOR THE ITEM.
2. SELECT SEVERAL KEYWORDS UNDER WHICH YOU WANT IT INDEXED.
3. ASSIGN THE ITEM A NUMBER, FOR ENTRY IN FILE PROGMS.ALL.
4. USING TECO, EDIT THE ITEM INTO FILE PROGMS.ALL IN THE
PROPER NUMERIC POSITION. SEE FILE AVAIL.FIL FOR
A DESCRIPTION OF THE RECORD LAYOUTS.
5. USING TECO, EDIT THE INDEX TERMS INTO FILE PROGMS.IDX.
IF SEVERAL SOFTWARE ITEMS ARE BEING ADDED AT ONE TIME, IT MAY
BE FASTER TO ADD ALL OF THE INDEX TERMS TO THE END OF FILE
PROGMS.IDX AND THEN TO SORT IT. SORT COMMAND FILE AVSORT.CCL
FACILITATES THIS.
